This is for Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE

Here I'll discuss tips, tweaks, and hacks that I've learned for increasing the performance of Win98.  All of the recommendations listed on the following pages are things I do to all the 'puters I work on.  While there are many more things you can do to your system, I've found these to never cause any problems.

While I'm confident enough to put all of these on all 'puters I work on, I cannot guarantee the results on your system.  I haven't seen your 'puter, nor am I aware of all the software you have installed.  The short version is you hack you 'puter at you own risk!

Whenever possible, I'll give the possible downside to a tweak.  Remember, there is a reason why Microsoft did not do these things themselves.  Since 'puters can be built in so many configurations, there is just no way to be sure that something that works well on 100 'puters won't foobar the next one.

Have you ever heard the term "The bleeding edge"?  As in "The bleeding edge of technology".
